Artist Statement

I create artwork to make the unknowable knowable, and the knowable unknowable.

What appeals to me about photography is that it allows me to use a tool that brings me into the right-here-right-now moment. I’ve done a bit of meditation here and there over the years, but something about taking photos wherever I am creates a similar headspace that sitting in a lotus position provides. The camera encourages me to take a look around—even if I don’t see anything interesting or remarkable, I’m still looking. And I can receive this awareness from new places.
